چکیده
The Better Scientific Software Fellowship (BSSwF) was launched in 2018 to foster and promote practices, processes, tools improve developer productivity software sustainability of scientific codes. BSSwF's vision is grow the community with practitioners, leaders, mentors, consultants increase visibility production sustainability. Over last five years, many fellowship recipients honorable mentions have identified as research engineers (RSEs). This paper provides case studies from several program's participants illustrate some diverse ways BSSwF has benefited both RSE communities. In an environment where contributions RSEs are too often undervalued, we believe that programs such can be a valuable means recognize encourage members step outside their regular commitments expand on work, collaborations ideas for larger audience.

The application of scientifically derived theories on software testing strongly depends on their ability to provide a value for practice. We provide a comprehensive review on the focus of research in combination with the requirements for their application. The major challenge for practice remains the continuous collection of data for successful method application. Major research gaps lie in a l...
